How to Use Power Washers for Cleaning Ships and Boats

Power washers are used for cleaning a variety of vehicles, most commonly cars and trucks. However, these machines are also used for the upkeep of aircrafts, and for cleaning ships and boats. The following are some tips to select and use power washers for removing dirt and impurities from water vessels.

Know the Process

The process of cleaning boats and ships is different from the normal auto detailing process. On water vessels, you can find algae, barnacles, and other microorganisms attached to the outer surfaces. The cleaning machines should have the ability to remove these impurities with ease.

Right Machine

Power washers are ideal machines for cleaning the exteriors of boats and ships. These machines can provide a very high output pressure, which can be as high as 8000 psi, depending on the model. It is important to make sure your boat can withstand such high pressure levels. Very high pressure levels may damage the exterior of the boat by causing dents and paint chipping.

Pressure washers by top supplies, like Daimer Industries®, offer high steam temperatures up to 330°F, as well. Machines with such high temperatures boast pressure levels as high as 3500 psi. Pressure levels in excess of this are not necessary, as high temperatures greatly increase cleaning power. When the right machine is selected, pressure washers can easily eliminate a number of sediments found on boats and ships.

Use Tri-mode Machines

Daimer® offers a number of tri-mode power washer, such as the Super Max™ 12300 with pressure levels of 3000 psi, a flow rate of 5 GPM, and temperatures reaching up to 330°F. Steam output will be required in some cases for removing algae and barnacles from the body of boats and ships. Hot water and cold water temperatures are also featured, enabling operators to select the right temperature level for the boat cleaning application at hand.

Cleaning chemicals can greatly enhance the cleaning power of any machine. However, it is important to use green chemicals, such as Eco-Green® Multi-Purpose Hard Surface Cleaner, to ensure the water is not polluted and that toxic chemicals do not harm the boat. Daimer®, a popular distributor of cleaning products, provides tri-mode power washers and green chemicals for a large variety of cleaning applications.
